24TH ST RESIDENCE 2
SANTA MONICA, CA | 2021-2024
This 3,150sf residence in Sunset Park builds on design strategies explored in a nearby project 24th St-1. The comprehensive transformation of the traditional home begins with the addition of a welcoming front porch, defined by V-shaped columns with wood accents. The southern, public-facing portion of the house is rebuilt and expanded to create a voluminous, open-plan living, dining, and kitchen area, animated by signature skylights. To the north, the private wing is reconfigured to include two guest suites and a new primary suite. These two zones are seamlessly connected by a band of service spaces—closets, utilities, and integrated millwork—providing both function and spatial continuity. A covered rear patio, echoing the language of the front porch with matching V-columns, completes the transformation.
